Counselling for carers

Support when caring for someone else leaves little room for you.

Space for you, too

You may be caring for a parent, partner, child or someone close to you. You can love them deeply and still feel exhausted, frustrated, worried or overwhelmed.

Blue Oak offers a confidential space to talk about your own needs, without judgement or pressure to have everything worked out. You don’t have to reach breaking point to ask for support.

  • Stress and exhaustion

  • Guilt about needing a break

  • Changing roles and identity

  • Relationships and boundaries

  • Grief and uncertainty

  • Support at your pace

How counselling can help carers

Carer stress and burnout

When your attention is always on someone else’s needs, it can be hard to notice your own limits. You might feel irritable, emotionally flat, isolated or unable to switch off, even when you have a moment to yourself.

We can explore what’s putting pressure on you and what realistic support might look like in your circumstances.

  • Talk honestly about difficult or conflicting feelings.

  • Explore boundaries and asking others for help.

  • Make room for your own identity and relationships.

  • Work through changes, grief and difficult decisions.

  • Find manageable ways to rest and reconnect with yourself.

Caring looks different in every family

You might support an ageing parent, a partner living with illness or disability, a child with additional needs, or someone experiencing mental health difficulties.

You may share the caring role, carry most of it yourself, or juggle it alongside work and family. You don’t need to call yourself a carer to seek support.

A conversation at your pace

We’ll begin with what’s happening for you and what you would like help with. You choose what to share, and we’ll talk through confidentiality and its limits before counselling begins.

Blue Oak provides counselling for your emotional wellbeing. We don’t provide respite care, case management, medical advice or a crisis response.
